The enamel I have used is one that only has to be heated to 100 degrees to melt.
That means no oven needed. It's tough work to get the powder where you want it and not beside!

I like the leaves of the Heuchera. They come in many different shades of green and red.
And they also come in silver actually! I made the earrings from silverpaste applied in several layers directly on to the leaves.

aconitum carmichelii. Below a close up of the blueberry.

Our cedertree has been shaped up. Some twigs pointed too far out and we also have to keep it down.

I could become 30 meters... We don't want that!

We were in Amsterdam in May. We knew that the Dutch like going by bike - but not to what extent...

Near the railwaystation there was a huge two-storeyed garage for bikes. How on earth do they find their bikes, when they want to go home? Lots of bikes were equipped with boxes of different kinds. The big long boxes were used for transporting children. I met a father with the box filled with kids, but I didn't have my camera ready! Pity. It was such a sight...
The last picture shows my husband with our bikes. (In Maisons-Lafitte outside Paris). We had helmets of course! We didn't see many helmets in Amsterdam...

The grapes grow in the greenhouse, and they are really good, sweet and quite big. There are still flowers in the garden. Thank heaven we had no frost yet... Today, Saturday September 24 has been a wonderful warm and sunny day, almost like summer...

Lovely welltasting peaches... mmm...

The peaches (Frost) are coming on fine now in the middle of September, while the late raspberries and the beans are over.

We have quite a lot of American blackberries - we put some every morning in our youghurt/porridge and we also freeze them in small packages.

There never were many beans - some animal - probably a rabbit or a hare - ate the tiny plants, so they really had to struggle to survive at all.

I have discovered felting! It's great fun. Small balls for jewellery, dolls or whatever you like. You either squeeze the wool in warm soap water or you stitch it with special needles.

I spent last week in Egypt with my husband, my daughter and her two babies, 2½ and 5 months and my husband's thirteen-year-old granddaughter. The demonstrations started the very day we landed. We were almost sent home two days after our arrival, but after having packed everything and waited for a long night and a long day, we were allowed to stay the week out. Hurghada was calm, and we only noticed that the other tourists were taken home. We stayed mostly in our hotel compound. All excursions were cancelled. I shared room with the the two babies and their mother - hm, not much sleep there...

Australian laurel, Pittosporum, has to be kept away from the frost. (The last picture.)The same goes for figs and eucalyptus. We have a little room on the balcony with a frost gard radiator. My pots outdoors have got their "winter dresses". My cyklamen on the balcony stands a good deal of minus degrees - the question is how many? The barrel by the entrance has already got a little Christmas tree, that has survived there for a couple of years. I add two different scimmias and a few red cornel branches. (I just love them! You can put them everywhere - directly into the ground if you want to!) Some nice stones added of course - very nice material - stands the frost all the time! ............................................

Two different kinds of physalis. The big ones are the same as the ones you can buy in the shop. The small ones are not at all sour/sourish when ripe and not as good if you ask me. But they carry more berries and ripen earlier (picture three).One Swedish name is "kapkrusbär"- that is what you call the big ones I think (picture two).

It's harvesting time ... But the magpies have taken almost all of the few ripened figs I had!!! Now I try to protect the few that are left on the last tree (of six...) with a blue net. I have lots of tomatoes - inside the greenhouse and outside it. Tomatoes outside ripen outside to an extent that I've never seen before... Thank you lovely summer! There are very few peaches though. Last winter was to tough I think.I won't thank it...

We took our first kayaktrip last Monday. Torholmen is a favourite of ours. You have to watch out for the "Björnloka" Heracleum sphondylium - it can really hurt you - but it's a beautiful giant! I don't know the name of the little white "cottongrass", but it's sweet!

I made a heart for my five first grand-children. When number six arrived I had hoped for a very short name - like Bo or something - but his parents decided for Alexander! Problem! I made a pendant to the first heart - and there is room left for number seven, who is scheduled in august... N.b. the letters/types are very big and thus difficult to get nice and even - I don't reckon this among my masterpieces however... But I like to share the solution to the problem!

The ring is made of silver clay and I made the stripes by using an old wooden butterformer. You used it to make round striped butterballs to serve when you had guests. I remember my grandmother doing this.

Ulrika, my daughter, and my daughter-in-law Christine made the tubepearls out of silverclay. Ulrika also made the little wheelpendant with the stamp "999FS" on, which means that it's made of fine silver (silver clay). My other daughter-in-law Leja made the hearts and the plates with names on. Thet got some silverclay for Christmas, and then I gave them a mini-course. We really enjoyed it all of us and I think they succeeded very well!

This morning the sun was shining and we meant to go skiing, but now it's snowing AGAIN... and it's -10... We have gone skiing several times during these last weeks - and it was wonderful!

Photos number one and two (same photo)show paintings from the temple of Hatshepsut, the first, and probably only, woman pharao. The first picture is most like the origin. The second photo shows what you can do in a photo editing program... The last picture is the papyrus painting we bought in the papyrus factory, where we also were told how the papyrus plant is made into paper. The trip to Luxor was really worth while, although we had to get up at 03.00 in the night...

Working with alabaster is no easy task, but the craftsmen are very skilful. The handmade things are so much more beautiful and elegant. It's thin - you can use it as a lampshade for example. The last picture shows machine made objects.

Rolf has made a new house for feeding the birds. Our kayak is sleeping under its cover. Our supply of firewood is quickly diminishing... We will take a short break from the winter however, and fly to Hurghada in Egypt for a week. I have had a sore throat etc. for almost a month - I need the SUN to recover!!!

Our little balconyroom has a heater to keep away the frost. We intend to have a temperature of +5 degrees centigrade there, but it is hard to keep it at that with this icecold winter - some nights we had - 15 outside... The lemontree is still alive - even with a little bud! The fig trees too, with next year's figs hanging from the naked branches. Some of the figs will not make it through the winter. They often dry up and fall off. I suppose it has to do with me giving them too little water during the winter? One must not give them too much water either...

We spent the New Year in Vann Spa by Gullmarn. (Brastad) The snowy landscape was wonderful and we had this marvellous view (photos above)from the Spa. In the background you find small rooms with warm water, different smells, bird song etc.

I keep on in the rural tradition... No glitter no red shining balls. Gingerbread hearts with names are a must - but what a job! I do everything myself just as my mother did. Every year I say to myself: This is madness - next year I won't have a Christmas tree at all. But when the tree is decorated and stands there on Christmas Eve I really think it's worth it! Little Oliver was only 5 weeks, when these pictures were taken a week or two ago. His mother died two hours after having given birth to Oliver, so now the people who take care of the cows have to feed him with milk several times a day. Isn' t he cute?!!!

This mushroom is rare and I have not found it before. It is not only edible but delicious as well according to the expertize. It was hard work cleansing it! I put it in the fridge and I will make a nice cauliflower mushroom dinner tomorrow! You can judge the size by comparing with my glove. I think it weighs about a kilo.

We didn't find very much valuable mushrooms on our "safari" driving up north from Skåne last weekend. The "ticka" to the right is a piece of art I think, although it is not edible! Today however we found seven kilos of mushrooms

- mostly "trattkantareller" around Härryda!

Oxidized tube pearl...

This oxidized (with sulphur)tube pearl with a moss green circon is going to be a gift to a person whose colours are not silver - she is rather gold or copper- but she wants a piece of silver jewellery from me. I also oxidized the chain. The question is - is it too dark? It is not very easy to judge from only a photo...

Some people are not "silverpersons". They want a warmer tone. Oxidizing with "svavellever (sulphur-something...) is a way of changing the colour of the silver. One doesn't quite know the result in advance, but sometimes you get the most amazing colours. The leaves in the picture have all been oxidized this way. The leaves are made from silverpaste on real leaves.

An olive tree from the garden "Apotekarns trädgård" in Simrishamn. ......... Mandelmanns gardens in Rörum have everything you can wish for. E.g. abricots and kivis in the greenhouse, ponds and lots of plants of course... The shops and the café are open Friday till Sunday, but the gardens can be visited every day. Tjörnedalagården in Baskemölla offers gallery, restaurant with delicious food and wonderful surroundings.

Lovely coastline between Baskemölla and Vik! The beaches vary between sand, round stones and cliffs. One can go by bike but walking gives more time to enjoy the lovely landscape. Linné was here too and has written about it in his "Skånska resa". The towers built by twigs seem to be inspired by Wilks installation at Kullaberg on the west coast of Skåne. However - nature is the greatest artist - look at the lovely rainbow!

We had a lovely day paddling among the islands outside Amundön and Billdal... The archipelago of Gothenburg is just fantastic! With the kajak you are very close to the water, no sound disturbs the birds... and you get a lot of exercise!

I have finished my watch bracelet... The different parts are made both of sterling silver and fine silver ( silver clay). I have also used different techniques in making the patterns - one of them is pasting silver-paper (made from silver clay) patterns on sterling silver. I do like my new watch - it is more a bracelet than a an ordinary watch I think!

This is not the Colosseum in Rome... it is the Roman amphitheatre in Pula, Istria. The Romans were there too of course, and you find many remnants from this period. The portal is another example from Pula. ------------I wonder: Will our houses stand for more than 2000 years?

This figtree from Istria, Croatia has not got very much space for growing... and it still grows - and bears fruit! Figtrees grew like weed down there. Other trees to be found frequently are olive trees. The silvergrey leaves contrasted beautifully to the red soil. In the island of Krk we even camped in an old olive plantation. I love the silvergrey foliage! :-))) It is great fun to travel! And to come home.

This beautiful hazeltree will have leaves when we return from our holiday in Europe and hopefully Croatia. I prefer it like this - the branches are so decorative...

Brännö!

Last Saturday my sisters and I took the Styrsö ferry to Brännö. It was a marvellous day and we had a wonderful fish soup at Brännö Inn/ Brännö värdshus. We could sit outside and enjoy the sun. Recommended! To the left: me standing on the "Brännö brygga".

Pendant in sterling and silverclay

Kristina Bergström gave a course in mixing sterling and silver clay - to make the most of it so to say. I made the ring I described below and this pendant. I made a silicon model of a button and stuck it on a sterling silver piece. I made a hole in the middle of the sterling, so from the back you can see the 999 stamp for fine silver and my signature. It is also stamped with 925 for sterling silver. To the left is a little oval that is to be part of a bracelet. It is also made of sterling silver with a a couple of silver clay leaves on it.
